Dana White Drops Major UFC White House Plans
Dana White has revealed the UFC’s attendance plans for their June 14 White House event.
The card is expected to be the biggest in the UFC’s history, with suggestions that it could feature 7 title fights. While that may be the case, White has said no talks over which fighters feature will begin until February. In the meantime, White has dropped some major news over the attendance figures. The CEO of the UFC outlined that there could be 90,000 people in attendance.
This would be split between two locations. The first would be the South Lawn, where up to 5,000 people could attend. This offers the attendees the chance to see the Octagon directly, especially since the fighters will walk from the Oval Office to the cage. The other venue features The Ellipse. This has a capacity of 85,000 people. It is located directly across the street from the fence of the White House. It will have LED screens, a stage for live music and "UFC X" fan experiences.
The date coincides with Flag Day and the 80th birthday of President Donald Trump, who initially proposed the idea. White emphasized that the 5,000 South Lawn spots will not be available for public sale; instead, they will be a "one-of-one experience" for invited guests and dignitaries.
The main card will stream exclusively on Paramount+, marking a shift from the traditional pay-per-view model. The UFC is reportedly spending $700,000 specifically to replace the South Lawn grass following the event to ensure the grounds are restored. This is what White had to say.
White Reacts
"We literally just got done going through all the logistics of how to set it up there, how many people we can have. It’s looking like we’ll have 5,000 people live on the White House lawn. It will be on the south lawn and then across the street is the park, it’s called the Ellipse, I think, and we can have 85,000 people there.
"We’re going to have big screens and we’re going to have a stage, we’ll have music throughout the day. We’re basically going to take over D.C. that whole week with lots of different things for fight fans. Then obviously a one-of-one event to be able to have it at the White House. Fighters will actually walk from the Oval Office to the Octagon," White said
