Netflix Could Air PBC And Jake Paul's Fights

In some latest news, Netflix is reportedly considering entering into the sport of boxing as Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions’ cards and PBC’s Al Haymon are some of the names being mentioned, as per The Wall Street Journal
Following the news that Showtime will exit boxing at the end of the year, PBC has been on the hunt to find a new network. Reports indicate that they have been in talks with Amazon Prime, as well as DAZN.
"I don’t know what Amazon is looking to do, to become a Showtime-like boxing provider, or are they looking for a one-off show? I don’t know the answer to that question. There has been dialogue between Amazon & PBC officials. It’s kind of depressing. People that celebrate Showtime’s exit are [blank]. Showtime has done a great job for 25+ years at broadcasting boxing. Any type of provider like that goes out, it’s not good for boxing," Chris Mannix stated
As of now, there is nothing new in that regard but PBC’s huge stable of fighters would make them an attractive option for a network moving forward.
Meanwhile, Jake Paul has shown an ability to put on some mega events. His bouts with Tommy Fury and Nate Diaz reportedly sold over 800,000 and 400,000 PPVs respectively.
In addition, Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and DAZN have announced a "Most Valuable Prospects" Series over six events in 2024 in order to show off the next best talent.
"We are thrilled to renew Most Valuable Prospects for 6 events in 2024 to bring more exhilarating young boxer matchups to fans around the world. Boxing is going through a transformational period and we want to spearhead the change that drives value to fighters first. We look forward to an exceptional 2024 with ten events already in place and an expansion of the MVP roster,” ,” MVP Co-Founders Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul
Either way, something has to change moving forward. Showtime’s exit has left a huge hole in the sport of boxing, with even rival promoters recognising that their exit harms the sport.
Following reports that PBC could potentially join DAZN, Eddie Hearn welcomed the idea. This was on the grounds that it would help the sport.
This was despite the fact that PBC and DAZN have not had the best relationship. But if it can have the impact of making the biggest fights, then that can only be a good thing moving forward.
"For me, I’m always championing the fact that DAZN is the global home of boxing. If they can bring PBC to the platform as well, I’d be over the moon, I’ll be flying, and I think it would be a good acquisition. But I’m sure they’re talking to Amazon, and maybe more as well. That’s the big job for PBC now, to make sure they have a broadcaster because if they don’t get the broadcast deal they need, the business can’t survive. But they have a good brand. So, I’m sure they’ll be OK," Hearn stated
