Shakur Stevenson Wants Ryan Garcia At A Catchweight
Shakur Stevenson is willing to fight Ryan Garcia following the latter’s recent comments about the fighter in the latest boxing news.
Garcia was very vocal about Stevenson’s performance against Edwin De Los Santos. This resulted in numerous boos throughout the fight due to Shakur’s defensive style. For the majority of the fight, Stevenson fought going back by using his jab to win a unanimous decision to grab the WBC lightweight title.
In the post-fight comments, Stevenson simply indicated that he did not feel well as he refused to offer up any excuses. But in the aftermath, there were suggestions that Stevenson had a hand injury. In response, Garcia was very vocal about the performance, stating that Stevenson needed to be humbled, which is why he would be open to fighting him.
Garcia On Stevenson
"He’s an arrogant person, and he’s arrogant in real life. That’s why I don’t like him, and I don’t say that about a lot of people. I love a lot of people, and I’m cool with everybody, but man, that guy, he’s been ticking me off since the amateurs. I want to just kick his a**. There’s enough of the talking. I’m here to kick his a**.
"If he wants it, I’ll beat his a**. I’m tired of him. You talk way too much s***, and when he’s talking s***, he’s talking s***, s***. It’s not like to entertain. He’s taking everything personal. Alright, you want to take it personal, we can take it personal.
"I don’t like to do that, but he’s so arrogant that it’s to the point where I got to whoop his a**. That’s a guy I want to whoop his a**. It’ll be a different motivation. I’m whooping his a** to the point where he can’t run with me. I’m going to his a**. If he’s not going to throw no punches, what do I have to worry about?" Garcia
Stevenson On Garcia
Thereafter, Stevenson replied with the intention of fighting Garcia. But in the process of doing so, there would be some hurdles to overcome. Garcia has just moved up to 140 pounds after making it clear that it was tough to make the 136-pound catchweight for the Gervonta Davis fight.
In addition, since Stevenson has only had two fights at 135, would he be able to move up to 140 to face Garcia? As of now, Stevenson has indicated a fight at 135 pounds, or a catchweight, which may prevent it from happening. However, Stevenson still made his position clear.
"We could do a catch weight or he can come to 35 if he want to finally become a world champion lol," Stevenson
"We could fight next weak a** n**a @RyanGarcia I’m gone stand in front of u all night long I promise," Stevenson
But before that can even be considered, Garcia must overcome Oscar Duarte on December 2nd, 2023. And as long as Stevenson continues winning, then a fight could follow. ‘Find all the latest boxing news and MMA breaking updates on boxingnews.com’
