UFC 321 – Tom Aspinall vs Ciryl Gane: Preview & Betting Tips
The UFC heavyweight division is about to witness a collision of modern giants in the UFC 321 main event as Tom Aspinall faces Ciryl Gane for the UFC heavyweight title.
Aspinall (15-3) has rocketed to the top of the division with an explosiveness and composure that’s almost alien among heavyweights. His only defeat in the UFC came via a freak injury when his knee ligaments snapped just seconds into the first fight against Curtis Blaydes.
Gane (13-2), however, is unlike any heavyweight Aspinall has faced. The Frenchman has movement and finesse at the highest level of the sport, and his only defeats in the UFC are in title fights.

Tom Aspinall vs Ciryl Gane: Analysis
While Aspinall may have the shortest average fight time in UFC history, he doesn’t just rely on his power, though. His ability to mix in feints, level changes, and grappling threats keeps opponents guessing. He closes distance with intelligence, he’s reckless and always calculated, which allows him to dictate the pace of exchanges. Against slower, more stationary heavyweights, that blend of speed and accuracy has been devastating.
Gane uses his teeps, jabs, and front kicks to control range beautifully. He frustrates opponents with his in-and-out approach, picking them apart while avoiding heavy counters.
What makes Gane dangerous is his ability to stay calm under pressure. He’s comfortable in long fights, comfortable at distance, and reads opponents exceptionally well. But questions still linger about how he deals with fighters who bring both athleticism and wrestling threats such as Aspinall.
This fight could hinge on who wins the distance battle. Gane will want to stay long, peppering with kicks and keeping Aspinall from setting his feet. Aspinall, on the other hand, will look to close the gap behind his quick combinations and force exchanges inside the pocket, where his hand speed can shine and he can land the big right hand.
Aspinall vs Gane: Prediction & Betting Tips
This matchup could play out like a chess match fought at lightning speed. Gane will look to keep the fight long, using his kicks and lateral movement to control range. Aspinall will aim to close the distance behind his quick jab and test Gane’s reactions.
The first few minutes could be cagey as both men will be reading each other, trying to establish rhythm, but once the range is found, fireworks are inevitable.Once Aspinall begins timing Gane’s movement, his speed and accuracy could take over. Gane’s finesse will keep him competitive early, yet Aspinall’s ability to explode in combinations, coupled with his grappling threat, should eventually break through.
Even if the Englishman does find it difficult to land on Gane early, he could resort to a wrestling-heavy game plan. And I would actually be more confident in him winning if this was the case. I do think a submission win is a decent probability. Therefore I’m taking Tom Aspinall to win by submission at odds of 3.75 (Sky Bet).
